Ethics
Evershine is committed to meet social responsibilities and to achieve success in the market place. All Evershine employees, suppliers, labour agents and subcontractors are to uphold the highest standards of ethics.
i) Business integrity – Evershine is committed to manage our business with honesty and integrity with respect for the interests of all concerned parties by avoiding all forms of bribery, corruption, conflict of interest, stealing, extortion, embezzlement, and by competing fairly. All employees have the right and are encouraged to declare conflict of interest where they communicate their refusal to do anything that are not in conformance with the ethics policy. Such employees shall be protected from any retribution arising from their declaration of conflict of interest or their refusal to do anything in nonconformance with Evershine’s ethics policy.
ii) No Improper Advantage – Bribes or other means of obtaining undue or improper advantage are not to be promised, offered, authorized, given or accepted. Evershine promotes anti-corruption, anti-bribery and anti-trust.
iii) Disclosure of Information – Evershine is committed to maintaining accurate and correct financial data records for reporting to the authorities. The financial records are audited annually by third party audit firm.
iv) Intellectual Property – Intellectual property rights are to be respected. Transfer of technology and know-how is to be done in a manner that protects intellectual property rights and customer and supplier information is to be safeguarded.
v) Fair Business, Advertising and Competition – Evershine is committed to fair marketing and advertisements. Collusion in any form is strictly prohibited. All company information to the public shall be accurate when communicated. Should collusion be found, a formal investigation by the management will be conducted and disciplinary actions will be taken accordingly.
vi) Protection of Identity and Non-Retaliation – Evershine is committed to protect the personal information of everyone we do business with, including customers, suppliers, and employees. Evershine shall ensure the protection of identity of any whistle-blowers and non-retaliation for any disclosure or communication. All parties shall be able to raise any concerns relating to their work without fear of retaliation.
vii) Responsible sourcing of Minerals – Evershine does not manufacture any products at this moment of time but we shall ensure any products manufactured in the future does not directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups that are perpetrators of serious human rights abuses.
viii) Privacy – Evershine is committed to protect the reasonable privacy expectations of personal information of everyone we do business with, including customers, suppliers and employees. We shall comply with privacy and information security laws and regulatory requirements when personal information is collected, stored, processed, transmitted and shared.
Labour
Evershine is committed to uphold the human rights of all employees and to treat them with dignity and respect as understood by the international community.
i) Freely Chosen Employment – Evershine has zero tolerance for slavery and human trafficking, including transporting, harbouring, recruiting, transferring or receiving persons by means of threat, forced, coercion, abduction, fraud for labour or services, bonded or involuntary prison labour. All employees are accorded the freedom to leave work or terminate their employment.
ii) Child Labour & Young Workers – Evershine prohibits child labour and shall not employ anyone under the age of 18 years old. Should an employee employed is found to be below the age of 18, the HR department shall be informed immediately. The underage employee shall not be discharged or fined. HR shall make best efforts to place them into proper apprenticeship positions where they are legal, not to perform work that may jeopardize their health or safety, and as much as possible restrict their hours and type of work to accommodate educational needs as required.
iii) Working Hours – Workweeks are not to exceed the maximum set by the Singapore Employment Act or any local authorities in the country. Compliance is subjected to business conditions and requirements.
iv) Wages and Benefits – Compensation paid to workers will comply with all applicable wage laws, including those relating to overtime hours and legally mandated benefits. Evershine will not make any deduction from wages as a form of disciplinary action.
v) Humane Treatment – Evershine is committed to humane treatment of all employees. There shall be no violence, gender-based violence, sexual harassment or abuse, corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion, verbal abuse or intimidation. Should any instance of inhumane treatment is reported, management will convene an official investigation and disciplinary action will be taken against the offender including dismissal of service.
vi) Non-Discrimination & Harrassment – Evershine is committed to a workforce free of harassment and unlawful discrimination. We will not engage in discrimination based on race, colour, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ethnicity or national origin, disability, pregnancy, religion, political affiliation, union membership, protected genetic information or marital status in hiring and employment practices such as wages, promotions, rewards, and access to training. In addition, workers or potential workers should not be subjected to medical tests that could be used in a discriminatory way. All medical tests carried out are either for insurance purpose or to satisfy requirement of Ministry of Manpower.
vii) Freedom of Association – Evershine will respect the rights of workers as established by local laws to associate freely on a voluntary basis, seek representation, join or be represented by Trade Unions, and bargain collectively as they chose. As provided by law, employees who
become worker representatives shall not be the subject of discrimination and shall have access to management and co-workers in order to carry out representative functions. Workers are able to communicate openly with management regarding working conditions without fear of discrimination, reprisal, intimidation or harassment.
Health & Safety
Evershine is ISO 45001 certified and is committed to provide every employee with a safe and healthy environment which will enhance the quality of products and services, workers retention and morale.
i) Occupational Safety – Worker exposure to potential health and safety hazards (eg. Electrical and other energy sources, chemical, fire, vehicles, and fall hazards) are to be controlled through proper design, engineering and administrative controls, preventive maintenance and safe work procedures and ongoing occupational health and safety training. Where hazards cannot be adequately controlled by these means, workers are to be provided with appropriate, well-maintained, personal protective equipment. Workers will not be disciplined for raising safety concerns. Reasonable steps also taken to remove unsafe work conditions & health risks for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
ii) Emergency Preparedness – Emergency situations and events are to be identified and assessed, and their impact minimised by implementing emergency plans and response procedures. These include workers’ training and drills, appropriate fire detection and suppression equipment, adequate exit facilities and recovery plans.
iii) Occupational Injury and Illness – Procedures and systems are in place to prevent, manage, track and report occupational injury and illness, including provisions to encourage worker reporting, classify and record injury and illness cases, provide necessary medical treatment, investigate cases and implement corrective actions to eliminate their causes and facilitate return of workers to work.
iv) Industrial Hygiene – Worker exposure to chemical, biological and physical agents is to be identified, evaluated, and controlled. Identified potential hazards shall be review, eliminated and reduced. Engineering or administrative controls must be used to control overexposures. When hazards cannot be adequately controlled by such means, worker health is to be protected by appropriate, well-maintained, personal protective equipment programs.
v) Physically Demanding Work – Evershine Worker’s exposure to the hazards of physically demanding tasks, including manual material handling and heavy or repetitive lifting, prolonged standing and highly repetitive or forceful assembly tasks is to be identified, evaluated and controlled.
vi) Machine Safeguarding – Evershine shall ensure that all machinery are to be evaluated for safety hazards and properly maintained.
vii) Sanitation, Food and Housing – Workers are be provided with ready access to clean toilet facilities, potable water and sanitary food preparation, storage, and eating facilities. Worker dormitories are to be maintained clean and safe, and provided with appropriate emergency plan, adequate ventilation, and reasonable personal space along with reasonable entry and exit privileges. It is the responsibility of each and every worker to maintain the cleanliness of their work and housing environment.
viii) Health and Safety Communication – Evershine shall provide workers with appropriate workplace health and safety training in their primary language. Workers are encouraged to raise any health and safety concerns without retaliation.
Environmental
Evershine is ISO 14001 certified and is committed to lessen our impact to the environment arising from the use of cleaning chemicals and responsibly sourcing minerals.
i) Environmental Permits and Reporting – All required environmental permits (e.g. licenses), approvals and registrations are to be obtained, maintained and kept current. Records and reports are recorded as per prescribed our Environmental Management System (EMS) manual.
ii) Pollution and Preventive and Resource Reduction – Waste of all types, including water and energy, are to be reduced or eliminated at the source or by practices such as adding pollution control equipment, modifying production, maintenance and facility processes, materials substitution, re-use, conservation, recycling and re-using materials.
iii) Hazardous Substance – Chemicals and other materials posing a hazard if released to the environment are identified, labelled and managed to ensure the safe handling, movement, storage, use, recycling or reuse and disposal.
iv) Wastewater and Solid Waste – Wastewater and solid waste generated from operations, industrial processes and sanitation facilities are to be characterized, monitored, controlled and treated as required prior to discharge or disposal.
v) Air Emissions – Air emissions of volatile organic chemicals, aerosols, corrosives, particulates, ozone depleting chemicals and combustion by-products generated from operations are to be characterized, monitored, controlled and treated as required prior to discharge.
vi) Materials Restrictions – Evershine adhere to all applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements regarding prohibition or restriction of specific substances, including labelling for recycling and disposal.
vii) Storm Water Management – Evershine shall prevent illegal discharges and spills entering storm drains.
vi) Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions – Evershine will adopt cost-effective methods to improve energy efficiency and to minimize energy consumption and greenhouse emissions.
